I like your sub-title. These are truisms about writers and columnists. The wisest man on earth once said, "Of the writing of books, there is no end" (Ecclesiastes 12:12 in the Bible). Makes it hard to carve your place in the text filled society that we live in, no matter how inspired or opinionated you are. So maybe your goal should be just to enjoy what you do and continue to look for ways to get better but not necessarily to "achieve" notoriety. It will save you a lot of pain. I think I read once the some of the most famous writers of all, were plagued by all sorts of internal torments related to their desire to succeed, even when they did succeed. So, have fun in the sun and don't forget your sunblock. Cheers, Matureo.
